The Murder Alley

by Caro

I run to my car, which I then drive 12 mph too fast. I hear many police sirens around me and when I finally arrive at my destination and get out, the police commissioner shakes my hand and says annoyed: “There you are finally detective. Come on, I'll show you the crime scene." I follow him wordlessly into a secluded alleyway. "Forensics has already secured the body, footprints, the bullet of the gun, cigarette stubs and all the standard stuff. You're too late, you won't find many clues here", he says and pats me on the shoulder encouragingly before leaving.

I brainstorm about what the police already know about this case; we're dealing here with a serial killer and each time it`s a single clean shot to the back of the head, always in the same alley with a Glock 18.

I briefly consider also just going to my car and driving home, but I decide to stay here. After lighting a cigarette, I sit down next to a dumpster and don't have to wait long until a tall man walks past me. No matter who the guy is, anyone stupid enough to walk down a dark, dangerous alley named „Murder Alley" simply deserves to die. I stand up, pull out my service weapon and shoot; a clean shot to the back of the head I would say. Grinning, I flick my cigarette away and make my way home, because tomorrow morning at the latest, I will be standing here again.

Isn't it ironic that I'm the villain in a story where I'm supposed to be the hero?

short story 2

his wife

by Inessa

Everything goes fast, but the only thing that stands still is her heart. Her blood, which began to dry, stuck to his hands, but she didn't die through him. Who thought that your own people were traitors. The traitors who helped the enemy to kill her. His only love. His first and from now on, last love. He blamed himself for what happened tonight. What if he never meets her or never tells her about his feelings for her? Maybe then she would be still alive. All his thoughts ghosted around him while the doctors tried to save his wife, but it was too late. From now on it felt like time was going by more slowly. He knows exactly what he needs to do. To kill la Signora. But how bad that this woman is smarter and powerfuller than him or at least she thought. His wife was a mastermind and planned her own death and revenge on the enemy. She knew that he would be hurt, but in her eyes she did the right thing. The doctors told him what he already knew and gave him a folded letter. He read it and made his
way to fulfill her last wishes.

The Stars in Our Eyes

by Rosa

I don’t know, how long I’m standing in front of this mirror, looking at me with disgust. I don’t know, when I started looking at myself like this. I don’t know, why I’m looking at myself like this. I can see every flaw, scar and dent. Some of those Scars I put myself on there. I can find them on my wrist, stomach and everywhere clothing is. It is scary to be in a dark place like this, especially when I should be “Miss Every Second Bright Smile". Everybody pushes me in this role and in reality, I just wish I could see the Stars again and catch them in my own eyes. Just to hold them for a second there. Just to see Stars Instead of Scars. But what am I? Who am I? I became the illness, I never thought I would have. The illness I even promised to me I would never have, but now. She consumes me, it’s not me controlling my body but the illness. It’s like my voice is locked up, in my own body. But control isn’t mine anymore.
